#MyMCR: Sophia Rosemary

Everybody knows music is such a pivotal part of Manchester’s culture.

Having spawned some of THE greatest bands of all time including The Smiths, The Stone Roses and Oasis, it’s hard to escape the city's musical heritage. I’m utterly inspired by it.

It’s hard to escape the city's musical heritage.
Trying to pick one particular place within Manchester that represents music is a difficult task because there’s just so many!

There’s such a huge selection of amazing venues all over the city and, as going to gigs is a favourite pastime of mine, it didn’t seem fair to pick one out in particular!

Corbieres - the best jukebox in Manchester

The next port of call when talking about music would be the bar with the self-proclaimed best jukebox in Manchester, Corbieres.

It’s a must-visit pit stop for a quick drink before going to watch your favourite band and I think I’d have to agree on the jukebox claim… It’s jam packed full of Manchester anthems!

Keep it super-effortless and comfy
One of the things I love most about going to gigs, is not really thinking too much about my outfit. I keep it super-effortless and above all comfy! I always opt for a tea dress like this adorable Victorian inspired floral dress from Topshop in the Arndale. Team it with your favourite vintage “dancing boots” and you're good to go!

One of my top places in Manchester is a bit of an obvious one - it’s Albert Square. The town hall is such a beautiful building, there’s just something about this particular area I find so peaceful.

Albert Square is so peaceful
From the huge grand clock tower (which has been decorated with a climbing Santa for every Christmas I can remember) to the Manchester worker bee floor tiling, the design of this building is awe inspiring to say the least.

Grab a coffee and go people watching
One of my favourite pastimes on a lazy Sunday is to grab a coffee and go sit on the monument steps facing the Town Hall and people watch. I guess you could say it’s one of my happy places and it makes me so proud to call Manchester my home.

The perfect outfit for a lazy Sunday
A lazy Sunday hang around at my favourite place calls for a lazy Sunday outfit. I can’t think of anything more suitable than a big, fluffy jumper to snuggle into.

I particularly love this baby blue H&M knit available in the Arndale. The baby blue makes it a great transitional piece waiting to be teamed with your comfiest jeans and trainers.

In all honesty, I’m not big on huge nights out on the tiles.
Instead I prefer to hop around some of my favourite bars in the Northern Quarter for a more chilled night out.
