If you’re anything like us and want to get it all done in one-go, then our pit-stop guide will come in handy ensuring that you can take a much needed break to re-energise with a cool, refreshing, energy and moral boosting drink.
Here are our recommendations for places to rest your tired feet whilst you work up the energy to blast through those last few items on your list.
FIZZ! Bar by Frizzenti
The clues in the name, need we say more? We’ve been eagerly awaiting the opening of this fabulous bar and can confirm that it’s everything we dreamed of and more.
Our expert bartender kindly explained through some of the options on the menu and recommended that we try the Vino Rosato, a pink beauty made from a blend of Pinot Nero and Raboso grapes which transported us straight to a Vineyard in Italy. (We can dream)
We also tried the cocktails on tap, and we’ve think we’ve seen the future. If we had our way we’d get one installed in the office. (Still waiting for sign-off from the boss on that one)
Gino D’Acampo My Pizza and Prosecco Bar
Now, Gino is a household name in the UK, bringing you his wonderful recipes, ingredients and passion from Italy. Gino has some further tricks up his sleeve, travelling to Veneto to work with producers Andreola and Terre San Venanzio, to offer exclusive prosecco that’s not available anywhere else in the UK! Is there anything that this man can’t do?
We tried the De Bertiol ‘Spago Rosso’ Frizzante, originating from the hills of Treviso with a lovely fruity, flowery taste. Perfect as a little light pick-me up to get us through out Christmas shopping list.
Our waiter also recommend that we must try the Domenico De Bertiol Cartizze, sourced from the region of Cartizze, which oozed a zesty apple acidity and if we’re honest, was so delicious that it nearly threw us off our Christmas shopping trail. So be warned.
On the cocktail side, Gino’s got your back! Not one to shy away from making an entrance, all of Gino’s cocktails are like him- they demand your attention and are stunning to look at!
Just look at this Roasted Peach Bellini. A prosecco primo stirred with pureed white peaches, a timeless classic perfect for a cold winter day pick-me up.
To make sure we were getting our five a day, we tried the Humphrey's Granny Smith Martini, with Grey Goose Vodka, and Cartron Kiwi liqueur, beautifully partnered with apple, lemon juice and mint! As well as being healthy (come on it’s got 4 different fruit flavours in it) it’s also a drink with a heart, for every martini sold, £1 is donated to the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital! Tasty AND for a good cause...Gino’s heart is as good as his food and drinks!
The Micro Bar is like a piece of the furniture, it has been a veteran provider of ales and ciders, serving thirsty shoppers in our neighbouring Arndale Market since 2006!
Owner, Mark, has spent a career in the pub industry, a local legend who pours the perfect pint and knows pretty much everything there is to know about beer.
On tap there are 4 rotating cast ales from regular breweries across West Yorkshire, Sheffield and Heywood, accompanied by the finest bottled and canned beers from across Manchester. Exclusive. Affordable. Refreshing.
The microbar might not have the glitz and the glamour of the Prosecco and cocktail bars, instead it has plenty of charm and plenty of choice when it comes to beer! So if you’re after a more relaxed and friendly vibe, then pop down to see Mark for a quick pint :)
Fuel Juice Bar
If you don’t have time to sit down and quench your thirst, then there are lots of other places to choose from that will give you that energy boost you need to carry on shopping. Fuel Juice bar offers just that. This place does what it says on the tin, fuels you for your mission ahead.
The protein packed Super Smoothies are a firm favourite in our office, you can literally feel yourself coming alive with every sip. (Tip, these are absolute game-changers for anyone who may have had too much fun at the office Christmas party, not mentioning any names. Cough)
We hadn’t tried this before but thought we’d give it a whirl in the interest of research: The Gym Junkie. This is loaded with strawberries, raspberries, banana, low fat milk, fat free vanilla frozen yoghurt, and we can confirm it made our muscles bigger, increased our stamina and meant that we were able to carry x 10 more bags of Christmas shopping. (Or we may have just been showing off)
If fruit isn’t your thing, then the Twisted Fuel Smoothies are for you! The Peanut Butter Love and the Milk & Cookies smoothies are cups of pure heaven. Who cares about your 5 a day.
Whether you’re into bubbles, ale, or juice, we’ve got a range of places for you to quench your thirst this Christmas, after all that shopping- you deserve it!
