With the heatwave showing no sign of slowing down, we asked lifestyle blogger Cheryl Chan to share her latest summer buys at Manchester Arndale. Author of the Labels and London blog, Cheryl recently relocated to our sunny city and already has bags of advice when it comes to finding amazing fashion in Manchester.
Bye bye pale feet
Is it me or did we skip Spring and walk straight into Summer? It’s absolutely scorching and feet are in need of something a smidge lighter than platform boots. So I’m going to give my feet and chance to see some sunlight buy a pair of sandals this week. I managed to scout this pair from Deichmann on the ground floor of Arndale and I’m already beginning to see some colour on my feet.
This is what they look like with an outfit. If you like it then you should go check out their store. They have tons of choice in the sandal department, I even bought a pair for my toddler.
I gave NEXT a raid for a new summer outfit...
Last week while all Mancunians were enjoying the sun I popped into the newly refurbished NEXT inside Arndale. I bought myself a floral print skirt, a striped tee and a navy leather jacket.
Since 2016 every Summer has begun with the flu for me because from the first sunny day onwards of each year, I get ahead of myself and decide that I don’t need a coat, jacket or a cardigan. And because I like to say that I learn from my mistakes, I bought the navy jacket to wean myself off the coat sensibly this year. I can drape it over the shoulder in the summer and layer it with knits come Autumn during transitional weather. After all, it’s important to remember that Summer doesn’t last long here in the UK.
A striped tee is an easy top half to style with shorts, jeans and skirts during the summer and with that, I also picked out a teal coloured floral print skirt. Lightweight skirts sway enough movement to create the pretty silhouettes amongst the cool British summer breeze… (think silk scarf blowing against the wind).
I also picked up a pair of yellow mustard shoes while I was there, this colour may not be your immediate choice but having a pop of colour within your Summer outfit really does pay off… especially if you find it difficult still to let go of your darker garments. The shoe department is now much bigger than before inside and surely worth a visit if you’re like me, a big fan of shoes.
Here I am enjoying the sun in my new outfit at Piccadilly Gardens. The sunglasses are from Urban Outfitters on the ground floor.
