Manchester’s happy hum of creativity has become the biggest buzz around town. A colony of decorative super-sized worker Bee sculptures have arrived to bring you nine weeks of fun and fascination.
Wild in Art and Manchester City Council have worked hard to bring Manchester’s individual communities together for Bee in the City, one of the most spectacular public art events the city has ever seen.
Manchester Arndale’s Busy Bee sculpture has been created by artist Betti Moretti who lived in Manchester as a student and was inspired by three years of busy, vibrant city centre living full of “music, partying, inspiration, studying, curries, growing up and friendships that still remain strong”. Busy Bee epitomises Betti’s crazy days flitting around town and having the time of her life!
Shoppers who visit Busy Bee can unlock over 30 exclusive discounts at Manchester Arndale, including 30% off food at Bella Italia, 15% off at Yo Sushi and 50% off a 'Honey Bee' bubble waffle at Bobo Tea.
Over 100 Bees are waiting to be discovered in the city on this free, family-friendly trail, taking in the city’s landmarks and undiscovered gems. Each Bee has been designed by a different artist and celebrates the unique buzz of Manchester, from its industrial heritage to its vibrant music scene. An inspirational learning project will give schools, colleges and community groups the chance to take part.
Join the trail from 23 July until 23 September.
