Paris, Milan, New York – and Manchester! We take a look around Paul Smith’s New Cathedral Street store.
The Paul Smith brand’s been around for more than three decades and is a revered name in fashion not just here in the UK, but around the world; with stores as far West as LA and as far East as Korea and Taiwan, we’re chuffed to bits that the newest Paul Smith presence has opened here in Manchester.
With famous fans like the late David Bowie, Eric Clapton and Paul Weller, Paul Smith collections have epitomised the best of British, something that comes from founder Sir Paul’s insistence on taking inspiration from things around him – not just reacting to the ‘de rigeur’ and replicating what other fashion brands are doing (“Some brands are too conscious of what everybody else is doing, I like to get my inspiration elsewhere: from exhibitions, books, or even a stained-glass window" he explains).
So what’s in store at this, erm, new Manchester store. It’s a classy and colourful affair filled with the signature well-cut pieces expected by fans of the brand; tailoring dominates, with Sir Paul’s love of a good suit on show for all to see.
But beyond the elegant simplicity that his tailored pieces bring, those distinct Paul Smith stripes brand are evident all around; the collections sit against a backdrop of beautiful colour – from vibrant red walls to beautiful paintings hung in amongst the clothing.
The store is open now and well worth a visit; whether you want to get your hands on some Paul Smith wares in Manchester for the first time – or simply share social posts of one of the most Instagramable retail spaces we’ve seen, pop in now.
