BBQ comes to Manchester

An American BBQ concept that’s the first of its kind in the UK is set to launch in Manchester. Entrepreneur James Hitchen is bringing the southern states inspired restaurant to Manchester Arndale’s food court.

The idea for Southern Eleven was born whilst 26 year old Hitchen spent time working in BBQ houses in Tennessee to get a real feel for the food and the unique cooking methods they use.

The new concept has been named after the eleven Southern states of America where BBQ was born. The North West born business man calls Southern Eleven "American BBQ cooked the real way". All of the meat is cooked in hickory wood smoking ovens for up to 18 hours. The cooking technique is so rare in the UK that the smoking ovens are being imported from Oklahoma.

Make sure you're one of the first to get stuck into Southern favourites such as BBQ beans, coleslaw, whipped potatoes and cornbread. For BBQ enthusiasts there will be take home sauces including a Texan hot sauce and a Tennessee Bourbon sauce .
