The Year of The Dragon.
Chinese New Year Day falls on Monday 23rd January and this year is the Year of the Dragon.
The first day of the Chinese Astrology Year is on February 4th 2012 so there are lots of opportunities to mark the occasion and sample some of the free entertainment going on in and around Manchester city centre.
Here at Manchester Arndale we have Chinese food outlet Wings in the market place if you want to sample some of the delicious food on the menu. Alternatively, you could cook up your own meal and take inspiration from the many Chinese cook books available in our book retailers (WHSMITH, Waterstone’s and The Works to name a few), grab yourself a pair of chopsticks and some candle food warmers (try Clas Ohlson, Argos or Wilkinson) and stock-up on the essential ingredients at Aldi. If you’re in need of some Chinese herbal remedies or fancy a neck, shoulder and back massage then head to Dr & Herbs for a head-to-toe assessment.
Chinatown and Albert Square, 11am - 7pm, free event - Sunday 29th January.
Celebrate the Year of the Dragon with one of the largest annual events in Manchester city centre from Friday 27th January.
Head down to Chinatown and Albert Square from Friday 27th January to browse the stalls, enjoy the performances and marvel at the spectacular fireworks display.
